New York is waking up to a wave of strange new murals, each one showing larger‑than‑life heroes in dramatic scenes. Authorities and residents are asking: who is responsible? No one knows for sure who is behind them, and authorities are asking residents to report anything unusual as they search for clues. Cleanup is underway, but more appear up across the city each day. Beyond who is responsible, nobody seems to know why this is happening. Unconfirmed reports have indicated that the paint used for the murals may have been made out of human blood.
